Replaced trike handle bars, AGAIN

I had given up on the 1st set of replacement bars, they were not the correct size for the stem and my work around didn't hold it securely. I was literally on my way to "The Lab" to look for a replacement, when I hit a pothole and the screw snapped, eliminating the possibility of further delay. While I was there, I collected some mountain bike brake pads and adjusted the hub brakes. My dad cut down the excess bolt length in the breadbox with a Dremel for me. I'm looking for a pitbull on ebay to replace the whole sidepull brake unit. Got to have optimum braking power with a kid on the back!

I replaced the fat granny seat with a bontranger saddle with integrated flashing lights and suspension. It's less bulky, lighter and a good overall upgrade.

Latest upgrades:
1) Tweaked the way the breadbox is affixed to the trike! The sight of the kids on the playground pushing on the back of the seat made me nervous!

2) finally got the seatpost/saddle adjusted and solidly locked into place.

3) Replaced the stock apehangers with these bad boys! the best thing besides the cooler look is it's much easier to get things mounted better. After I was able to mount the mirror where it was useful, I added the padded dashboard. My son wants a ATV feel to it. The "Dash" has 4 neoprene pockets including a bottle holder

4) replaced the seat strap with one with a fastex buckle.

I finally completed my initial efforts to create a seat for my little one on the back of the trike. We rode to school on Friday and my bigger son rode it home with him in the afternoon. The main pieces are a wooden breadbox I have screwed to the rear basket mount with some scraps of plywood and a seat off a discarded Big Wheel. The bread box is solid, offers a small enclosed storage space and was free! I have more things to do the the trike but this was huge to me and both kids enjoyed riding it.

I have so many projects on. Get the wife's bike back on the road, tune up my two bikes: the recumbent and the Mountain bike. get rid some of the "Extra stuff" upgrades on the folding trike, create/prepare whatever a trailer, seat or something for riding w/my little one.

Dragged my kids out to ride today and everyone had a blast!

We took advantage of the great weather and went out this afternoon. I was able to take turns with my older boy on his adult sized trike with the little one riding on my lap. We generally chased each other around and had a good time. I was happy with the way the trike felt and how well the little upgrades I've done worked out. I had installed a caliper brakeset on the front wheel to supplement the drum brake, possibly unneeded but it makes braking possible with either hand. The plastic cargo box works well and seems lighter and probably safer than a wire basket. The new handgrips were comfy. and most importantly the bell is compact, cute and loud!

Rather than focus on summer being gone, I'm going to focus on getting ready for fall.
Project one: getting the BikeE ready for commuting, repair horn mount and maintenance.
